UK toy industry shows resilience
UK toy industry shows resilience
Market statistics released today highlight the UK toy industry’s resilience throughout 2011. According to retail tracking group NPD, sales increased by three per cent in value throughout 2011. The UK toy market is now valued at £2.96 billion and remains the largest in Europe.

   
Retail sales up over Christmas
Heavy discounting over Christmas helped to reverse the fortunes of many retailers who had faced a tough trading climate in preceding months. Figures released today by the British Retail Consortium show retail sales were 2.2% higher on a like-for-like basis from December 2010, when sales had fallen 0.3%, hit by snow.

Figures are up for John Lewis
John Lewis have released figures for this week's trade showing a sales growth of 4.7% year on year in the four days to the end of Wednesday 14, 2011. Highlights include climbing sales of boys and girls' hat gloves and scraves, driven by the cold weather.

Harvey Nichols, the UK’s premier fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailer, has chosen Liverpool ONE in which to launch a new concept, small format store. Harvey Nichols will occupy the 22,000 sq ft former Habitat store in Peter’s Lane, Liverpool ONE’s fashion hub. Details of the new store concept will be released in Spring 2012...
