UK toy industry shows resilience
Market statistics released today highlight the UK toy industry’s resilience throughout 2011. According to retail tracking group NPD, sales increased by three per cent in value throughout 2011. The UK toy market is now valued at £2.96 billion and remains the largest in Europe.

Retail sales up over Christmas Heavy discounting over Christmas helped to reverse the fortunes of many retailers who had faced a tough trading climate in preceding months. Figures released today by the British Retail Consortium show retail sales were 2.2% higher on a like-for-like basis from December 2010, when sales had fallen 0.3%, hit by snow.
